Projects appear empty

I've just installed gitlabhq on one of my servers (played around on a VM earlier) and added a project. Everything looked fine until I pushed a few commits to the project. Even after several commits and half an hour of waiting gitlabhq shows the repository as empty. At first I thought it was because I had redmine_git_hosting installed and maybe the hooks conflicted but since reinstalling gitolite didn't help that probably isn't the problem.
Edit: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, gitlabhq from moderno branch, gitolite from master branch.
