[5-0-stable release] Wall message disappear after using relative url

I installed the stable release https://github.com/gitlabhq/gitlabhq/commits/5-0-stable ref 0c7f4260.
Initially created the wall messages were visible.
Then I changed the url to Relative url (at gitlab.yml and unicorn.rb) and restarted the app (service gitlab restart and service nginx restart)
Now logged back in app and Wall messages disappeared.
