I have set up gitolite and gitlab. The gitlab web pages work well. I can create a project. When I add a ssh key and can push to origin without any problem. However none of the commits are shown in gitlab - no activity, can't browse code etc. Still says

"You should push repository to proceed. After push you will be able to browse code, commits etc."

Any ideas why this may be???
