Diff sections in merge request sometimes not colorized (5.3-stable)

This has been an issue in previous versions as well.
As it can be observed in the screenshot, sometimes there are sections in the diff view of merge requests as well as the commit view when the diffs are not colorized red/green. It's not a big issue for smaller commits / merge requests, but for big ones it's very annoying.
I don't have an exact reproduction scenario of the top of my head, but I seem to remember it involving sections of code that had comments or just whitespace changes more often than not, but I don't have any evidence of it right now.
