6-1-stable doesn't exist ... yet?

I'm not sure if I'm jumping the gun here, but I was updating my gitlab install from 5.1 all the way up to the most recent. When I get to the 6.0 -> 6.1 update, and this command:

sudo -u git -H git checkout 6-1-stable

I get:

error: pathspec '6-1-stable' did not match any file(s) known to git.

Should I wait a bit?
