Wiki file extension .markdown (Gitlab) vs .md (Gollum)

Creating a new wiki page creates a file named .markdown. When using Gollum locally to create wiki pages, the files are named .md. Because of this it would be possible to create two pages with the same name which can cause a lot of confusion. Could this be made configurable?
