Missing info about updating git on Ubuntu in installation tutorial
Created by: dstudzinski
Hi I found small problem in https://github.com/gitlabhq/gitlabhq/blob/6-2-stable/doc/install/installation.md (and other installation files)
GitLab uses git >= 1.7.10 but in Ubuntu 12.04.3 (and never I suppose) is 1.7.9 only.
In Ubuntu you have to install never git from ppa: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pdoes/ppa sudo apt-get install python-software-properties sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install git (or just update whole system: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade)
Maybe installation.md files should inform about it? Tested on fresh VM Ubuntu server 12.04.3 x64 (fully updated) I know that Ubuntu is maybe less popular on servers than Debian but on requirements page: https://github.com/gitlabhq/gitlabhq/blob/6-2-stable/doc/install/requirements.md Ubuntu Linux is described as officially supported. In my opinion installation tutorial should be universal and work for both distros.
