Does the Gitlab user id have to be 'git'?

Created by: rajeshr264

Summary: Can I create & use a different user id with Gitlab, other than 'git'? I want to use 'gitlab'. Is there any issue with this? Steps to reproduce: No issues Expected behavior: I am trying to create a new network userid (say 'gitlab', because username 'git' might clash later) for my Gitlab install. This new network id will have the same group permissions as me, its own home directory on a network server (that is backed up) and best part, I can set up Gitlab to write all its data to large network-connected disks. Observed behavior: No issues. Relevant logs and/or screenshots: No issues. Output of checks: Possible fixes: None.
