500 on non english caracters

Created by: Xefir

Hi

When i want to open a new merge request with a commit name with a non english caracter like é è à ù and so on, GitLab crash and do a 500 error.

Here is the record log :

ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid (Mysql2::Error: Incorrect string value: '\xCC\x81fir ...' for column 'st_commits' at row 1: UPDATE merge_request_diffs SET state = 'empty', st_commits = '---\n- 🆔 !binary |-\n MmY0M2I5NDBjZjhjYTAyZDY4N2U1NjJlMTczOTBkNmM5ZGY3MDUwNA==\n :message: Merge branch 'master' into preprod\n :parent_ids:\n - !binary |-\n ZmEzYjIxMTAzZDRhMDBlNzJmZTQzZDFhODFjOGNmOGJiMjliNzE0NA==\n - !binary |-\n OWQ4ZjBkMjM5OGJmYWI0ZDViY2QzYmU2M2MwMDdkNmI3OTk1YTcyMg==\n :authored_date: 2014-02-24 16:20:19.000000000 +01:00\n :author_name: Xéfir Destiny\n :author_email [ ... ]

I cut of the rest, because this is sufficent. I'm french and this accentued caracter is common, is there a fix to avoid this ?

Thank you. Regards, Xéfir Destiny
