PhantomOpenEmoji or emoji instead of gemoji

Created by: samrocketman

09:42 < hggh> gitlab uses gemoji, that has problems with license and redistribution, why gitlab does not switch to https://github.com/Genshin/PhantomOpenEmoji / https://github.com/steveklabnik/emoji? 09:42 < hggh> I'm asking because Debian Ruby team would like to get Gitlab into Debian, and we can't add gemoji to the archive 09:44 < mmoll> hggh: open an issue for that, or ask Sytse about that 09:44 < mmoll> hggh: if you provide a working patch, I see high chances, it's getting accepted 09:45 < hggh> ok, will submit a issue. Yet no time for that, packaging is much work: http://people.debian.org/~boutil/gitlab/gitlab_deps20140311.pdf 09:46 < hggh> green is available in the debian archive, yellow = work in progress, black = todo :) 09:49 < mmoll> I saw that when the porting efforts started... also, I'm facing similar problems with another project I do the FreeBSD packages for right now ;) 09:50 < hggh> :)

You might be interested in the above conversation so that GitLab can be packaged for Debian. It is an excerpt from IRC.
