Certain avatar images cause 500 Internal Server Error

Getting 500 Internal Server Error from nginx whenever i try to upload the following image:

Problematic Image for Avatar - Level One Logo

Now the really interesting bit:

  • other images work fine
  • if i convert the image to .png, it still gives the same error when uploading

Nothing could be spotted in production.log etc... in admin area, however my nginx logs read:

2014/03/12 21:34:37 [crit] 11356#0: *20533 open() "/var/tmp/nginx/client_body_temp/0000000676" failed (2: No such file or directory), client: 188.96.169.35, server: XXX.avalon-networks.com, request: "POST /groups/42_tracks HTTP/1.1", host: "XXX.avalon-networks.com", referrer: "http://XXX.XXX.avalon-networks.com/groups/42_tracks/edit"
