Branch with slash in name cannot be automatically merged

Reproducable by creating a branch with a slash (stories/name) as suggested by Git Flow. Push the branch, create merge request with the web interface.
Results in this message:
This request can't be merged with GitLab.
You should do it manually with command lineExpected: the regular auto-merge message.
Version: gitlab-6.7.2, installed on a clean Centos 6.5 from the rpm.
