Editing file via GitLab UI changes line endings from Unix to Windows

We've noticed that updating a file (e.g. README.md) via GitLab interface, changes line endings from Unix to Windows and it messes up our diffs. We need to manually change it back to Unix and then push to remote. This renders file updates via GitLab GUI useless for us.
