Syntax highlighting in wiki/comment editors

There are nice examples of supporting syntax highlighting for markdown like the left side of the editor of Stackedit, which lets a markdown editor become a semi-WYSIWYG-editor. This would make it much easier and nicer to write a page or comment. Here an example taken from Stackedit:
